Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines what is and is not allowed on the Voxif platform. It applies to every Customer (account holder) and every End User (call recipient) interacting through the Service. The AUP is part of our Terms of Service; violating the AUP is a material breach of the Terms and grounds for immediate suspension or termination.
Voice and SMS are powerful channels. They reach people directly, often without warning. Misuse damages the recipient, your brand, your carrier’s reputation, and the Voxif platform as a whole. We enforce this policy strictly.
1. Your responsibility, not ours
You are solely responsible for the calls you place and receive, the consent you have obtained, the data you process, and the laws that apply to each end-user’s jurisdiction. Voxif is the orchestration layer; you decide who is called, when, what the agent says, and where the data goes. You also confirm that anyone you give access to your account (team members, contractors, integrators) is bound by this AUP.
2. Telephone laws — baseline rules
Different countries have different rules. As a baseline, you must comply with all telephone-consumer-protection laws applicable to each call, including (but not limited to):
- United States: TCPA, FCC robocall and AI-generated-voice rules (including the 2024 declaratory ruling that AI-generated voices in calls are subject to TCPA consent requirements), CAN-SPAM (for SMS), the National Do-Not-Call Registry, and any state-level equivalents (notably California, Florida, Washington, Oklahoma).
- European Union and United Kingdom: GDPR, ePrivacy Directive and national implementations, PECR (UK).
- Canada: CRTC Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and CASL (for SMS).
- Australia: Do Not Call Register Act 2006 and Spam Act 2003.
- Pakistan: PTA rules on bulk outbound calling and SMS.
- Local rules everywhere else — including any region-specific Do-Not-Call list, consent format, or time-of-day restrictions.
3. Consent and Do-Not-Call lists
You must:
- Have a lawful basis (typically prior express written consent in the US for marketing calls; legitimate interest or contract for service calls) to call each number on your list.
- Scrub your outbound list against the applicable Do-Not-Call register before each campaign — US Federal DNC plus relevant state lists, UK TPS/CTPS, EU national equivalents, etc.
- Honor opt-out requests immediately. If a callee says “stop calling”, “remove me from the list”, or words to that effect, the agent must add them to your DNC list and end the call within a few seconds. The Voxif default templates do this.
- Respect time-of-day restrictions for the callee’s local time zone (most US states: 08:00–21:00 local).
- Identify yourself, your business, and the purpose of the call clearly and early. Spoofed caller-ID is prohibited (see Section 6).
We strongly recommend keeping the consent record (where, when, how it was given) in your CRM and being able to produce it on request from a regulator or callee.
4. AI disclosure
Where applicable law requires — and as a Voxif best practice always — you must ensure your agent honestly answers the question “Are you a real person?” or “Am I talking to a human?”. The default Voxif templates instruct the agent to respond “I’m an AI assistant from [your business]” and offer to transfer to a human if asked. Do not edit your prompt to deny that the agent is AI.
Several US states (California, Colorado, Utah, others) and EU member states have AI disclosure laws taking effect 2024–2026 that require proactive disclosure that the caller is interacting with AI. You are responsible for following those rules.
5. Call recording and transcript consent
Recording laws vary by jurisdiction (one-party vs. two-party consent). You are responsible for obtaining the consent required for each call you record, in each jurisdiction the parties are located in. If you enable Voxif’s recording or transcript-retention features, your agent should disclose the recording at the start of the call (e.g. “This call may be recorded for quality and training purposes.”) and obtain consent where required.
6. Prohibited categories — never on Voxif
Regardless of consent, the following are absolutely forbidden:
- Fraud, scams, phishing, vishing. Including but not limited to fake IRS / tax / police calls, fake support, fake bank-verification, romance scams, lottery/prize scams, charity impostor calls.
- Caller-ID spoofing with intent to defraud or mislead. You may only present a number that you or your business legitimately control.
- Harassment, intimidation, threats, hate speech, stalking, doxxing, or any communication intended to humiliate or terrorize the recipient.
- Calls that impersonate a person, brand, or institution the Customer is not authorized to represent.
- Calls about illegal goods or services — narcotics where prohibited, weapons in jurisdictions where prohibited, human trafficking, illegal gambling.
- Calls to numbers you have no relationship with or consent to call — cold robocalling is not allowed.
- Calls timed to harass — e.g. calling outside legal hours, repeated re-dialing after a clear opt-out.
- Calls about politically sensitive or election-influencing topics using AI-generated voice without explicit disclosure, where prohibited by law (e.g. US FCC ruling on AI-generated political robocalls).
- Calls to emergency services or critical-infrastructure lines for any reason other than a real emergency.
- Calls that violate sanctions regimes — including originating to or terminating in countries currently under OFAC or UN sanctions.
- Calls that distribute malware, viruses, or harmful content.
- Calls to minors without a parent or guardian’s explicit prior consent.
- Calls that knowingly violate the receiving country’s telephone-consumer-protection law.
7. Platform abuse
Do not:
- Bypass, exploit, or attempt to defeat platform rate limits, spend caps, or other safeguards.
- Perform a denial-of-service attack against Voxif or any service Voxif depends on.
- Transmit code, files, scripts, or content intended to harm Voxif, Customers, recipients, or third-party providers.
- Resell or relabel Voxif as your own platform without a signed reseller agreement.
- Probe or scan Voxif’s infrastructure for vulnerabilities except under our published responsible-disclosure terms (email security@voxif.tech).
- Use the Service to develop a competitive product without our written consent.
- Falsify or supply misleading information to Voxif during account setup, KYC, or billing.
8. SMS-specific rules
SMS sent through Voxif (e.g. booking-confirmation links to recipients without an email) must follow the same consent + opt-out rules as voice. Additionally:
- US-bound SMS requires the sender to complete 10DLC brand and campaign registration with the carrier. Voxif sends transactional SMS only (booking confirmations); marketing SMS broadcasts via Voxif are not supported on the default tier.
- Always include a clear opt-out path (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE) in any non-transactional message.
- Do not send sensitive personal data (full government ID numbers, banking credentials, OTPs intended for another purpose) over SMS unless you have a specific lawful basis and the recipient’s consent.
9. End-user content
End users (callees) may share personal data with the agent during a call. You are responsible for capturing only the data your service needs, storing it lawfully, and deleting it when no longer required. If a callee provides sensitive categories of data (health, financial, biometric, sexual orientation, political views, religion, criminal record) on a call you placed, you are responsible for ensuring there is a lawful basis to process it.
10. Enforcement
Voxif may, in its sole discretion, take any of the following actions if we believe in good faith that you have violated this AUP, applicable law, or the rights of a third party:
- Warn you and request remediation.
- Suspend specific features (outbound calling, SMS sending, certain numbers).
- Suspend the account entirely.
- Terminate the account and delete the data, subject to our retention obligations.
- Cooperate with law-enforcement requests pursuant to our Law Enforcement Response Policy.
Where a violation is material or repeated, we will not give prior notice before suspending. Where a violation is a first offense and low-risk, we will normally contact you to fix it.
11. Reporting abuse
If you believe a Voxif Customer is abusing the platform — harassing you, spoofing caller-ID, calling outside legal hours, ignoring opt-out, or running a scam — report it to abuse@voxif.tech. Include the date and time of the call, the number called, the number that called you, and a brief description. We investigate every report and respond within 5 business days.
12. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time, particularly as telephone-consumer-protection and AI-disclosure laws evolve. Material changes are announced via the dashboard and (for enterprise customers) by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
